On Wednesday at approximately 12:20 p.m., Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the area of Illinois Route 26 and Old Illinois Route 26 in rural Orangeville for a report of a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries. The results of the preliminary investigation indicate that a vehicle driven by26-year-old Shania Cantrell of Orangeville was attempting to turn southbound on Illinois Route 26 from Old Illinois Route 26 when it was struck by a truck driven by a 41-year-old man from Argyle, that was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 26. Shania Cantrell was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a 15-year-old male passenger in her vehicle was transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. The Argyle man, was not injured. The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and an autopsy is pending. The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Orangeville Fire Department, Leamon’s Ambulance Service, the Stephenson County Coroner’s Office, and the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
