A ban on open burning in Dubuque County went into effect today. The ban was ordered by Iowa State Fire Marshal Dan Wood. A Dubuque County Emergency Management press release states that fire departments in the county have seen an increase brush, field and grass fires over the past two weeks. The ban does not include using outdoor fireplaces or barbecue grills or burning trash in incinerators or trash burners. The proclamation states that the ban will be lifted when fire danger subsides. Jackson and Jones counties also are under burn bans.
