The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction created a new website to highlight the effects of federal funding on public schools and libraries. It also provides updates on federal cutbacks. The website, “Tracking Federal Funding Cuts: The Effect on Wisconsin” appears to be a direct response to recent cuts by the Trump administration. The website includes an interactive map of school districts that displays specific data. Details include funding from the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Agriculture, full-time educators’ jobs supported by federal funds and the percentage of federal funding districts receive relative to their local revenue caps. The website also offers one-sheets for each public school district containing much of this information in an infographic format. These flyers can be found at the bottom of the main web page. DPI said it will regularly update the website if there are more funding cuts and data will be updated in real-time.
