There is a new initiative to help Iowa County residents who are at risk of severe or even deadly falls. This initiative helps connect residents to the resources they need to protect themselves. Wisconsin has the highest death rate for falls in the nation. The Healthy Iowa County Community Action Team on Aging implementing a Falls Prevention Campaign in Iowa County. This program includes a pilot referral system between Dodgeville EMS and the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Iowa County. Its purpose is to identify folks who have fallen or are at increased risk for falls. Then the individual is connected to the Iowa County Aging and Disability Resource Center to assist in identifying risks and getting this person connected to additional resources.
