A Reedsburg man was taken into custody Monday after having about $22,000 worth of cocaine in his possession, according to Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office posted on their Facebook Friday that they completed two search warrants for different residences in Reedsburg. Authorities said they were able to get search warrants after the US Postal Inspection Service seized a package containing 1074 grams of cocaine. That’s about $22,000 in street value. Officials said the package was from Puerto Rico and was headed to one of the residences. The package was delivered by the Postal Inspection Service and was later brought inside the residence by an unrelated female. A male showed up after several hours and went inside the residence. He was taken into custody as he leaving while carrying the suspect package. 28-year-old Jaushua A. Vargas-Sanchez of Reedsburg was arrested and charged with Possession with intent to Deliver Cocaine greater than 40 grams, Possession with intent to Deliver Cocaine 1-5 grams, Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation helped the sheriff’s office and the Reedsburg Police Department with this investigation.
