The University of Wisconsin-Madison now ranks sixth nationally for research ranking, according to the National Science Foundation’s annual rankings. Since 2018, it has ranked 8th out of 920 public and private universities. The university has topped $1.7 billion in research expenditures, and nearly half of the total comes from federal awards.
