When the people of North Carolina needed help following the devastation brought by Hurricane Helene, Eric Church immediately came forward to help his home state and organized the Concert for Carolina with fellow Tar Heel Luke Combs. The benefit show raised over $24 million to aid people in need, but Church didn’t stop there. He also signed over all future royalties for his new single, “Darkest Hour,” to go towards helping those affected by the storm for years to come. “I think the biggest thing that the people of North Carolina need after Helene is awareness,” Church says. “Because as a society we tend to move on pretty quickly to other things. That’s just our nature and these people are going to need help for a long time. So the more that I can shine a light on the people there and the need that is going to still be there for a long time, the better off it will be.” (Billboard)
