Due to an equipment failure at the City of Platteville sewer plant, roughly 30,000 gallons of raw sewage overflowed from the plant and flowed onto the ground inside the fence line today (Thursday, October 31). The overflow did not reach the Rountree Branch Stream. The malfunctioning piece of equipment has since been replaced, tested, and connected to an alarm. At no time was human life at risk of contamination. For questions, contact Utility Superintendent Ryan Kowalski at 608-778-4701.
