A suspect charged in connection to an investigation in which authorities found cats and dogs living among garbage, animal feces and layers of bugs within a home pleaded no contest to some of the pending charges. According to court records, 40-year-old Carie Reed of Rewey pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges of not providing proper shelter to animals. Another 31 misdemeanor charges related to the case were dismissed. A judge found Reed guilty but withheld sentencing pending successful completion of probation, which included community service. Reed’s codefendant, Johnny Reed, is also scheduled for a plea and sentencing hearing in September. Court records show an arrest warrant is active for their other co-defendant, Gregory Shaw.
