A woman accused of poisoning her then-husband in 2022 will spend the next three years in state prison. Online court records show 51-year-old Amanda Chapin, formerly of Monroe was sentenced Friday. She was also sentenced to three years of extended supervision. Chapin pleaded no contest in June to one felony count of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. She had initially been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The charges came after Chapin’s then-husband Gary Chapin fell into a coma in August 2022. Bloodwork showed he had barbiturates in his system. Gary eventually awoke from his coma and reportedly told detectives that Amanda Capin had poisoned his morning coffee multiple times between July and August 2022.
