On Thursday just after 12 PM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a semi versus car crash on Highway 151 at the intersection with Hill Climb Road in Paris Township. After investigation, it was found that 77-year-old Elaine Shanley of Platteville, was driving eastbound on Hill Climb Road and attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 151. Shanley entered Highway 151 directly into the path of a southbound semi tractor and trailer being operated by 59-year-old Henry Chamberlain of Fort Atkinson. Chamberlain braked and swerved, but could not avoid a collision with Shanley’s vehicle. Shanley’s vehicle received severe damage and the semi sustained moderate damage, both were towed. The semi operator was not injured in the crash. Shanley was transported via ambulance to Southwest Health Center in Platteville and was later transferred to a Madison area Hospital for further treatment of possible serious injuries. This crash remains under investigation. Dickeyville EMS, the Dickeyville Fire Department, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown First Responders, the Dickevyille Police Department, the Cuba City Police Department, the Grant County Highway Department, Donnie’s Tire and Auto, and Kieler Service Center assisted at the scene.
