On Wednesday, Platteville Police were requested at the intersection of Adams & Lancaster Streets for a person yelling and threatening members of the construction crew working nearby, while in possession of a gun. Officers responded and located the person in the yard of a nearby residence. Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect was no longer armed. Members of the construction crew stated the suspect threatened to shoot them, while holding a long gun. 26 year old Dustin Updike of Platteville, was taken into custody without incident. Updike cooperated with the officer’s request to confiscate the firearm. Upon entry into Updike’s residence, drugs and paraphernalia were also seized. Charges of Disorderly Conduct, Possession of a Short-Barreled Shotgun or Rifle, Possession of a Firearm while Intoxicated, Possession of THC, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia have been filed in Grant County Circuit Court. The Platteville Police Department was assisted by UW- Platteville Police, Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Platteville Fire Department.
