The Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a series of burglaries in Viola late Wednesday night into the early morning hours of Thursday. Three juveniles, whose identities are being withheld due to their age, are believed to have stolen a vehicle in the City of La Crosse and subsequently broke into multiple cars, stealing various items from local Viola residents. Law enforcement officers quickly located the stolen vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Viola. The suspect vehicle eluded law enforcement through Viola and ultimately Westbound on Highway 56 into Vernon County, during which the stolen vehicle left the roadway and became disabled. After the vehicle became disabled, the driver of the stolen vehicle fled on foot and was later apprehended in La Crosse. Two of the juveniles involved in these burglaries were located and apprehended in Viola.
