A flood warning remains in effect in the Dubuque area as the Mississippi River continues to rise. The river stood at 16.5 feet at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Dubuque railroad bridge, according to the National Weather Service. Flood stage is 17 feet at the bridge. The weather service forecast calls for the river to rise to 20 feet by Saturday, June 29, and climb to 20.8 feet by July 1. At 15 feet, water affects yards in East Dubuque’s Shore Acres subdivision. By 20 feet, water reaches the base of the Dubuque floodwall at the Ice Harbor and many houses on the river side of the East Dubuque levee are in water, according to the weather service.
