The issue of the H5N1 virus in lactating dairy cattle was a topic of the Grant County Agriculture and Extension/Fair Committee on Monday. Fairgrounds and Operations Director Amy Olson says the committee will continue to monitor the situation in the coming months. Olson added the Wisconsin Association of Fairs has been in contact with veterinarians at the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. A question and answer zoom session for all county fairs in the state will be held Thursday (June 20th) at noon.
The current rules and regulations in Wisconsin call for a negative H5N1 test within seven days of lactating dairy cattle participating in county fairs and other shows
