A vacancy within the Green County Sheriff’s Office has Governor Tony Evers seeking applicants to fill the position. In a statement Thursday, Evers said the appointment will fill a vacancy being created by Sheriff Jeffrey Skatrud’s resignation, effective June 30. The new sheriff will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2027. To apply, applicants must complete a “Register of Deeds, Coroner, and Sheriff” application form by 5 p.m. Friday, May 24. Applicants with questions about the sheriff selection process may contact the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel via email or (608) 266-1212.
