A man from Sparta was arrested Wednesday for his actions during the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, according to the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. 37 year old Charles Walters is charged with felony destruction of government property. He’s also charged with several misdemeanors, including entering or remaining in restricted grounds, disorderly conduct on Capitol ground or buildings, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. After his arrest, Walters appeared in U.S. District Court in Madison. Walters was identified among rioters by a variety of open-source and Capitol police body camera videos. In the 32 months since the insurrections, more than 1,100 people have been charged in nearly all 50 states for the U.S. Capitol breach.
