Five people were injured at a fireworks show in Sparta Tuesday night. According to Sparta Fire Chief Mike Arnold, toward the end of the show on the Fourth of July, an incident stemmed from a 25-shot cake that may have been faulty. At this time, investigators believe one of the display’s mortars burned through the side and potentially caused four other mortars to tip over and discharge at ground level, shooting in a northern direction into the crowd. Five persons in the crowd had non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are waiting on footage of the incident to confirm the details of what happened.
