Almost 11 years after the infamous “Slender Man” stabbing in Waukesha, Morgan Geyser was set to leave a mental health facility. However, her release was delayed again. 22-year-old Geyser appeared in Waukesha County Circuit Court for the final step of transitioning from a state mental hospital to a group home in Milwaukee. A late development, however, caused a delay. But during Monday’s final hearing on her release plan, a complication arose. The plan would place Geyser close to where Leutner is now living and attending graduate school. Judge Michael Bohren ordered the state to find a new group home for Geyser within 30 days. Geyser will remain at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute until then, with a hearing on her release scheduled for early June. In 2014 Geyser and Anissa Weier, then 12, stabbed their sixth-grade friend Payton Leutner nearly to death to appease Slender Man.
