Three years after their son’s passing, Hamlin the family hosted their non-profit’s first event honoring Wyatt’s legacy. Wyatt’s Warriors hosted a child abuse awareness and prevention walk at the Iowa County fairgrounds on Saturday. The family is still working on final numbers, but said 350 people joined them for the opening ceremony and walk. While the event is to help educate others about child abuse, it is also helping the family heal and continue to move forward. The family claims that Wyatt was shaken while at day care, and his brain damage was too severe to regain consciousness. The day-care provider watching Wyatt was sentenced in April 2024 after pleading guilty to five child neglect charges, including one count of neglecting a child where the consequence is death. The Hamlin Family hopes to continue to educate and bring awareness to child abuse in their community, as well as to partner with other organizations to grow together and have a bigger impact across Wisconsin and beyond.
