Following voters’ April 1 approval of an operating ballot measure in the Cuba City School District, officials are taking steps to add previously cut items back to the budget. The school board this week unanimously approved the addition of a certified special education teacher beginning next school year and the addition of a middle/high school custodian beginning this summer. Superintendent Aaron Olson said the recommendation to add a special education teacher and custodian was in line with what the district communicated to the public ahead of the referendum. Olson said other items that will be brought back into the district’s budget include technology, professional development, student field trips, additions to teacher classroom budgets and department budgets, lead teacher positions, curriculum resources and a curriculum director.
