Cate Blanchett Is ‘Serious’ About Potentially Retiring From Acting

After more than 30 years in the industry, two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is seriously considering retiring from acting. In a new interview, the 55-year-old actress expressed her genuine contemplation of stepping away from the spotlight to pursue other interests. “My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting,” Blanchett told UK outlet The Standard. “(There are) a lot of things I want to do with my life.” She explained feeling uncomfortable with the attention that comes from interviews and public appearances. “I’ve spent a lifetime getting comfortable with the feeling of being uncomfortable,” she said.
