Authorities said a convicted felon who discharged a firearm in a Dubuque residential neighborhood has been sentenced to three years in federal prison. 30-year-old Datreon Adams of Dubuque, received the sentence this week in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids after previously pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, he also must serve a two-year term of supervised release after the prison term. The charge stems from a shooting incident last April in the area of Stafford and High Bluff streets where shell casings were found at the scene, though police said there were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage. Adams had a prior criminal conviction barring him from possessing a handgun.
