During the close of the March 29th episode of Saturday Night Live over the weekend, country superstar Morgan Wallen abruptly left the stage at Studio 8H during the show’s standard farewell segment. Wallen performed two songs during the show, “I’m the Problem,” the title track from his highly-anticipated album due out on May 16, along with another new tune, “Just in Case.” But after a quick embrace with Oscar-winning host Mikey Madison during the closing farewell segment, Wallen quickly walked off the stage before engaging with the rest of the cast, and immediately hopped on his private plane to leave New York as fast as possible. Wallen posted a picture from the runway on his Instagram Stories, along with the caption, “Get me to God’s country.” Wallen already has a checkered history with SNL, sparking controversy in October 2020 after breaking COVID-19 safety protocols and being replaced as the musical guest at the last minute by Jack White, before returning to the show in December to perform “7 Summers” and “Still Goin Down” from Dangerous: The Double Album, which spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
