Speed is a factor in a crash that overturned an excavator and skid steer Monday morning. According to the Prairie du Chien Police Department, they responded to the crash around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Iowa Street and South Marquette Road. The excavator and skid steer were being hauled on a trailer behind a dump truck. That trailer had overturned while the dump truck’s driver, 32-year-old Austin Goodwater of Prairie du Chien, was traveling through a roundabout. Investigators say video showed speed was a factor in the crash. Highway 35 was reduced to one lane as crews cleared the equipment, police said. Damage to the road, sidewalk and stormwater system is still being assessed. Police made no mention of any injuries.
