On Wednesday around 9 AM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of multiple vehicles in the ditch near mile marker 1, in Jamestown Township. Law Enforcement along with Dickeyville EMS, Jamestown First Responders, and Jamestown Fire Department and an ambulance from Dubuque responded to the scene. When law enforcement arrived, they learned that 32-year-old Kyaira Benoit of Platteville, was traveling southbound when she lost control on the icy roadway. The vehicle entered the west ditch where it struck a large metal highway sign before coming to rest on the hillside with heavy damage. Traffic began to back up due to the crash. As a result, a 33-year-old Mason Hullerman of Lancaster was unable to stop and struck 29-year-old Anthony Canfora of Madison, in the rear of the vehicle. Hullerman’s vehicle suffered heavy front end damage and Canfora’s vehicle suffered heavy damage to the rear end. Minor injuries were reported by all three parties and they were transported to Southwest Health Center in Platteville, and hospitals in Dubuque for treatment of their injuries. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Dickeyville EMS, Dubuque EMS, Jamestown First Responders and the Jamestown Fire Department.
In addition to this accident the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1 personal injury crash, 3 property damage crashes, and 8 slide offs with no damage due to Wednesday’s weather.
