Voters in Wisconsin’s primary elections narrowed the field of candidates running for the Platteville and Southwestern Wisconsin school boards on Tuesday, though not all votes had been counted by the Telegraph Herald’s deadline. In the Southwestern school board Area 1 race, incumbent Sara Bechen and challenger Jordan Pergande will face off in the April 1 election for the seat. Matt Galusha was eliminated from the race. Seven school board candidates faced off yesterday in a Platteville primary election to whittle down the field. According to unofficial results Ben Grossman, Kecia King, Betsy Ralph-Tollefson, Dave Hottenstein, Jill Wiederholt, and Todd Kasper will vie for the three Platteville School Board seats up for grabs in the April 1 regular election.
Wisconsin’s Democratic-backed incumbent state schools leader will face a Republican-supported challenger after both advanced in Tuesday’s three-person primary. The winner in the April 1 general election will guide education policy in the battleground state during President Donald Trump’s second term. Jill Underly, currently serving her first term as state superintendent, and Brittany Kinser, a private school advocate, both advanced in Tuesday’s primary. Jeff Wright, a rural school superintendent, was eliminated.
