For a limited time, City of Lancaster residents can get 75% off a tree for their yard or property. Depending on the tree they select, residents will pay only $40-$55, which is 25% of the actual
cost. The city covers the remaining 75%, thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Douglas & LuAnne Pink Family Charitable Endowment and the Lancaster Community Fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. Residents can pick their favorite tree from among 13 varieties that are native to the Midwest and chosen specifically to diversify the city’s tree inventory. Trees will range in height from 6’-12’ tall and be available for planting in May. Any City of Lancaster homeowner is welcome to apply. However, funding is limited, so participation is first-come first-served. To participate, pick up an application at City Hall or download one from lancasterwisconsin.com. Approximately 60 residents will be able to receive a tree at a reduced cost.
For information about the tree replacement program, call Lea Vesperman at 608-723-3702 or email cityhall@lancasterwisconsin.com.
