Charges filed in connection with statewide amber alert

The person who authorities believe took a 16-year-old, who is the subject of a statewide Amber Alert, has been charged in connection to the girl’s disappearance. Online court records show 40-year-old Gary Day was charged with two counts of abducting a child and two counts of child enticement. One count of each charge stems from the day 16-year-old Sophia Franklin was last seen; the other charges are in relation to an incident in July 2024.  An arrest warrant was issued for Day.  Franklin is said to be three months pregnant. Day is known to be the father of the child. Franklin was last seen at her home at 9 p.m. on Sunday. Day was last seen at Franklin’s home just before 8 a.m. on Monday.  Authorities said a no contact order is in place for Day and Franklin.  The two are thought to be in a black, 2014 Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas or Pennsylvania license plate.  If you’ve seen them or the car, you are asked to call the Beaver Dam Police Department at 888-304-3936.
