Dubuque Community School Board members are expected to discuss a proposal to close a district elementary school at their upcoming meeting. The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the Forum. The board’s agenda includes an update and additional discussion on facilities efficiencies from Superintendent Amy Hawkins. At a committee meeting last week, Hawkins asked school board members to consider closing Hoover Elementary School at the end of this school year both for financial reasons and due to the school’s declining enrollment. The board will not take action on the proposal to close Hoover at Monday’s meeting, but a vote on the issue is slated for next month.
