The man who is accused of murdering a woman and two children in New Lisbon had his first court appearance Friday. 47-year-old Virgil Thew is being held on a $5 million cash bond and faces additional charges. The state requested a $5 million cash bond citing the significance of the crimes, previous convictions and his efforts to elude law enforcement following the killings in late December. Thew initially faced three counts of 1st degree intentional homicide. He now faces additional charges including three counts of hiding a corpse, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of taking a drive a vehicle without consent and one count of resisting or obstructing an officer. His next court appearance is on Feb. 13.
