Gov. Evers, like many politicians across the nation, released a statement on Former President Jimmy Carter and his legacy. Evers said, “ Former President Carter was a committed and dedicated advocate for peace, human rights, and treating others with dignity, decency, and respect—qualities that earned him respect and admiration from many across our country and around the world.” The Wisconsin governor will make a forthcoming executive order to put Wisconsin and U.S. flags to half-staff for thirty days following a president’s death, in conjunction with federal law.
