For the voters of the River Ridge School District, there will be no referendum question on the ballot for 2025. Believing the outcome for the question will be similar to failed referenda questions they have done in recent years, the board decided not to pursue another. Instead the board will be spending a portion of the district’s fund balance, which acts as their emergency funds, for items in the 2025-2026 school year. An audience member at the meeting remarked that if the school district spends its fund balance and a future referendum isn’t passed then the district could be forced to dissolve or consolidate with other districts.
