A woman and one of her children were hurt after their vehicle was hit by a milk tanker trailer that didn’t stop for a stop sign in Hazel Green, Grant County Sheriff’s officials said. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the Kirkwood and Center Road intersection Sunday at around 8:50 a.m. 31-year-old Megan Clendenen of Kieler was traveling eastbound at Kirkwood Road with two children in the vehicle. A semi driven by 56-year-old George Sergent of Monroe was going south on Center Road, hauling a milk tanker. Police say Sergent did not see Clendenen’s car and ran a stop sign. Clendenen’s vehicle sustained heavy damage on the driver’s side and all airbags went off. The children and their mother were all wearing seatbelts or were in their proper child seats. Clendenen and one of the children suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. Sergent was not injured in the crash and was cited for inattentive driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. The Hazel Green Fire Department, Dickeyville Police Department, Hazel Green EMS and the Sheriff’s Office all assisted at the scene.
