The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office said there is no legitimate threat to any schools in the area after receiving a tip about a social media post that referenced a potential school shooting. The Wisconsin Department of Justice notified the sheriff’s office about the post at around 12:49 a.m. Friday. Sheriff Reg Gill said the post was flagged because of the language used. The DOJ determined that the post mas made in rural Lafayette County. Deputies, with help from the Darlington Police Department, were able to get in contact with a juvenile who admitted to making the post. Investigators determined that the post was not a legitimate threat and “displayed no ill intent toward actually carrying out the mentioned threat.” Gill said the juvenile will be referred to Lafayette County Juvenile Intake and there will be possible repercussions within the juvenile’s school system.
