The City of Platteville has applied for a 50% matching grant as part of the Urban Green Space subprogram of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. The grant will assist with purchasing 11.2 acres of land. The City of Platteville plans to acquire five parcels totaling 11.2 acres to expand its trail network system. In partnership with the Platteville Community Arboretum, the city proposes to develop four of the five parcels into a trail corridor and one parcel into a trailhead parking lot. If acquired, recreational activities will include hiking, cross-county skiing, picnicking, fishing, limited trapping, archery hunting and scenic enjoyment.
