During the CMA Awards ceremony in Nashville next Wednesday (November 20), George Strait will be presented with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. The country icon will also be honored during the ceremony with a tribute to his music performed by an all-star group of musicians. Strait will join the eight previous recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was initially presented to the award’s namesake, Willie Nelson, back in 2012. Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Kris Kirstofferson, Charley Pride, Loretta Lynn, and Alan Jackson are the other recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award isn’t presented every year at the CMAs, with Jackson the last to receive it during the 2022 award ceremony. Strait’s impressive career achievements include recording 60 No. 1 singles, 17 CMA wins, 83 CMA nominations (the most ever), and over 70 million albums sold. (Taste of Country)
