Former Lancaster wrestling coach Chuck Rasmussen will be recognized when the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association hosts the 48th George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday in Wisconsin Dells. Rasmussen served as the varsity wrestling coach at Lancaster from 1993-2006 and compiled a 188-48 dual meet record, eight conference dual meet championships and “Clash” Tournament titles in 1998, 2000 and 2002. He coached 29 WIAA state qualifiers, including 18 place winners, four runners-up and two state champions. Rasmussen led the 2000 team to the Division 2 state tournament. In 41 years of coaching, Rasmussen helped develop 104 WIAA state qualifiers and 17 state champions. Lancaster produced 13 wrestlers who went on to wrestle beyond high school, including the University of Wisconsin’s Cole Martin and David Chadd and NCAA Division 3 all-Americans Phil Wolf and Mike Hoskins. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells Friday. The reception begins at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m.
