Criminal Minds fan-favorite Matthew Gray Gubler will return to TV as the lead in a new CBS crime procedural pilot, tentatively titled Einstein. Gubler will star in and produce the series, which follows the brilliant-yet-wayward great grandson of Albert Einstein as he is reluctantly roped into aiding a local detective with solving complex cases — which gives his previously directionless life a newfound sense of purpose. The project marks a reunion for Gubler with CBS and CBS Studios, with whom he had a long-standing stint on Criminal Minds. He was the only longtime cast-member from the series who didn’t return for the 2022 sequel, Criminal Minds: Evolution. (Deadline)
