Nobody was hurt Wednesday afternoon after a fire that damaged two sheds in Reedsburg holding 900,000 pounds of hay. Reedsburg Fire Department crews were called to the 3400 block of Thieman Hill Road at around 1:05 p.m. after a caller reported having multiple large square hay bales on fire. Crews arrived to find two sheds fully engulfed in flames with a third shed partially on fire. It took several hours to put out the fire. Ray Zobel and Son’s supplied a backhoe to remove some of the bales, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Heavy Unit spread the bales out to help firefighters. Crews remained on scene until 1:30 a.m. Thursday. About 400,000 gallons of water were shuttled to the scene to fight the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
