On Thursday, at 1pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy 18 and Hwy 80, in Montfort. Upon arrival, it was determined that 24-year-old Carlos Plana Lobo of Boscobel, was driving east on Hwy 18 in Montfort. At the same time, 87-year-old Faye Pensel of Livingston, was stopped at the stop sign on County Road I at Hwy 18. Pensel observed Plana Lobo traveling east bound, but indicated Plana Lobo was at safe distance where she could continue south to Hwy 80. As Pensel was almost through the intersection, Plana Lobo struck Pensel’s rear passenger tire. Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash and were removed from the scene by Haase’s Towing. A witness to the crash, states Plana Lobo was speeding and there was enough distance for Pensel to cross Hwy 18 if Plana Lobo was driving the speed limit. Plana Lobo was cited for Driving without a license and no insurance; he was also issued a warning for speeding. No injures were reported in this crash and Montfort Fire Department assisted as the scene.
