On Tuesday the city of Prairie Du Chien issued a State of Emergency due to flooding along the Mississippi River. It comes as the National Weather Service is projecting the river reaching a level at or near 20.3″ this weekend. City leaders announced street closures on North Main St from McLeod Street to Miller Street, the Washington Street Bridge, and 6th Street (St. Feriole Island). The city has sandbags that are filled at the corner of East Washington Street and North Ohio Street, with additional sandbags expected to be filled. Elderly and handicapped people can contact the city to request help placing sandbags by contacting 608-326-0266. The city said the floodgate on Wells Street in Prairie Due Chien will close at 19″. The Farmers Market and Music in the Park scheduled for Thursday will be moved to Lochner Park on Tuesday night.
