John Deere officials on Friday announced plans to shift some production from the company’s Dubuque Works plant to a planned new facility in Mexico in 2026. The exact number of employees to be affected by the move is not yet clear. Deere officials said about 200 production and 25 salaried employees at the Dubuque plant support the manufacturing of the equipment slated for relocation. A statement from John Deere says the company is acquiring land in Ramos, Mexico, to build a new facility expected to be operational in 2026. At that time, mid-frame skid steer loader and compact track loader production will be relocated from John Deere Dubuque Works to the Mexico facility. The company expects to begin ramping down production of the loaders at the Dubuque facility in early 2026 and complete the transition by the end of that year. Deere officials said the Dubuque Works plant will continue to manufacture large-frame skid steer and compact track loaders; backhoes; utility-, construction- and production-class crawler dozers; crawler loaders and knuckleboom loaders.
