Authorities have ruled the explosion and fire in Cuba City causing one fatality was an accident and no foul play took place. Nothing illegal was found during the investigation. The Cuba City Fire Department and Southwest EMS were paged to 423 East Webster Street just after 6 pm Wednesday Night for reports of a large explosion and fire in the garage. Neighbors and the first arriving firefighters were able to extinguish the 72 year old victim, identified on social media as Mike Parks. The victim was transported by MedFlight to a Madison Hospital where he later passed away. Due to the explosions and condition of the victim, the Cuba City Fire Department requested the State Fire Marshall’s Office to aid in the investigation. The Cuba City Fire Department and Southwest EMS were also assisted by the Hazel Green Fire Department, CC Police and Cuba City Public Works.
