A Dubuque County jury on Monday convicted 24 year old Romell Enoch of first-degree murder in the 2021 killing of 20 year old Kylie Duster of Dubuque. Enoch was charged in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County with first-degree murder in the death of Duster. The jury on Monday found Enoch guilty after deliberating for roughly four hours. The verdict came after three days of testimony from nearly 20 witnesses. Testimony concluded Friday, and jurors on Monday heard attorneys’ closing arguments. Police found Duster dead in her Dubuque home on July 28, 2021, after she had not been seen for multiple days. She was found in her bedroom closet with a white T-shirt in her mouth and injuries to her face and neck. Prosecutors contended Enoch killed Duster and hid her body after an argument the two had on July 25, 2021. Enoch told investigators in a 2022 interview that the two had fought over the fact that Enoch was romantically involved with both Duster and another woman. District Court Judge Michael Shubatt scheduled a sentencing hearing in the case for July 1.
