Platteville Community School District officials may bring a referendum before voters this spring to help cover the district’s operating costs. The operating referendum school board members are considering would allow the district to exceed its state-mandated revenue cap and levy the additional funds through local property taxes. The board plans to discuss the amount of the potential operational-funding measure at its Dec. 13 meeting. According to Superintendent Jim Boebel, if board members want to place the measure on a ballot, they could vote to do so at their January meeting. It would then require a simple majority to pass at the April 2 election.
