The City of Lancaster received a $10,000 grant from the Merlet Family Fund and the Lancaster Community Fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc. for a residential Ash tree replacement program. This program will allow residents to purchase a tree at a discounted price. The homeowner will pay 25% of the actual tree cost, while the city covers the remaining 75%. The Director of Public Works, who is trained in forestry, preselected the type of trees. Trees will range in height from 6’-12’ tall and all are native to the Midwest and will increase the diversity of trees in the city. Any City of Lancaster homeowner is welcome to apply. Funding for the program is limited and participation is on a first come first served basis. Approximately 50 residents will be able to receive a tree at a reduced cost.
