On Saturday at approximately 2:30 a.m. the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration on Highway 35 near DeSoto. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 32 year old Rachael McBain (32) of West Salem. McBain exhibited signs of drug impairment, and she was on probation for possession with intent to deliver amphetamine and felony bail jumping. Prairie du Chien Police Department K9 Phoenix responded and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia were all discovered. McBain was taken into custody and brought to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, 3rd offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, and a probation warrant. Also, she was cited for expired registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and a driver’s license restriction violation.
