After coaching boys and girls Cross Country for 41 years at Darlington, Arnie Miehe is retiring. Darlington became a force in Wisconsin cross country beginning in the 1980s under Miehe. In the 1990s, Darlington was a runner-up to Cochrane-Fountain City four straight years. Then, Darlington captured six state titles in a row from 2011 to 2016. Miehe was named the National Boys Cross Country Coach for 2015 by the Coaches Association of the National Federation of High Schools. Each year, Miehe organizes the Darlington Cross Country Team Relay for Life Across Wisconsin with a run from Lake Michigan to the Mississsippi River. Miehe was also inducted into the state Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2005.
