The Prairie du Chien Police Department received information on Monday that an inmate of the Crawford County Jail had various kinds of controlled substances in his jail cell. K-9 Phoenix was utilized to conduct a sniff of the jail and indicated a substance in a mattress on the top bunk of a jail cell. While jailers searched the mattress, they found two vials of an unknown liquid, suspected to be Suboxone, eight grams of Methamphetamine, and another item wrapped in electrical tape that were all attached on a string. The Crawford County Jailers also found a sock on the inmate’s person that contained multiple syringes, close to another eight grams of Methamphetamine, a baggie of suspected Heroin, four tablets of suspected Adderall, a Fentanyl patch, and multiple strips of Suboxone. The inmate, 31 year old Ura Giengerich of Sparta, is believed to have smuggled the items into the Crawford County Jail by concealing them in his person upon turning himself in to serve a sentence. Charges are being referred to the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office on Giengerich and an investigation is continuing.
